My AUTUMN Reads…

My AUTUMN Reads…

At the moment, I’m flying through two books a week – sometimes both of them being novels! – so I thought I’d catch you up with where I am right now.

The reading load has admittedly been hard, but that’s what fourth year at university is all about I suppose. Indeed, all of the books below are ones I have had to read because of course requirements; I haven’t had the time for any personal choices unfortunately. Nonetheless, some of these works I have really enjoyed… Others? Not so much. Although, I did not hate any – woop woop! Two of them are also re-reads (Brontë and Dickens). It’s nice reading a book again after a while; you always notice things you didn’t before. I’ll include ratings to indicate where my favourites lye, but bare in mind that they are absolutely personal and that someone may have a completely different view on a book than I do!

I have also linked every single book to a website so that you can easily be taken to a seller, get a synopsis of it and also skim over reviews.

There’s quite the mix of contemporary and Victorian literature on my list, hence the reason I’ve included the publication dates… But what do you prefer? Older or newer literature?

Zadie Smith, White Teeth (2000)

My rating: 3/5

Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre (1847)

My rating: 4.5/5

Ian McEwan, Atonement (2001)

My rating: 4/5

Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Aurora Leigh (1857)

My rating: 2/5

Margaret Atwood, Oryx and Crake (2003)

My rating: 3/5

George Eliot, The Mill on the Floss (1860)

My rating: 4/5

Don DeLillo, Falling Man (2007)

My rating: 4.5/5

Jennifer Egan, A Visit from the Goon Squad (2010)

My rating: 5/5

Charles Dickens, Great Expectations (1860-61)

My rating: 4/5

Let me know if you have read any of these novels (and what you thought of them!) or plan to in my comments section below 😊 I can also do a single, in-depth review of one book in particular if you’d like to see that!

P.S. if you are planning on treating yourself to any new books, pleaseee use my Book Depository link below! It doesn’t affect the prices for you in any way whatsoever, but it does give me a tiny percentage back for referring you! Plus, they send you free bookmarks with your purchases – what’s not to love?
